Take the D650 SW from Cherbourg then the D4 into Les Pieux. The monument is on the eastern side of the road.

A Resistance group

Ten B-26s of 439th Bomber Squadron were transferred from Attelbridge to North Africa in support of Operation Torch. One of them, N 1777, was shot down near Les Pieux. It was piloted by Lt W.A. Bloom and was ferrying members of 319th Bomb Group's HQ element, including the second-in-command, Lt Col A. Rutherford. He was accompanied by A.K. Perry, A.F. Bettge, H.E. Biggers, J.R. Howell, R.N. Henslee, A.T. Bender, F. Slater, and J.J. Gubala.
