Take the D901 east from Cherbourg and then Rue Jean Mermoz NE to the airfield. The monument is in the field in front of the latter.
This monument commemorates the US airfields built in Normandy in 1944.
It has the shape of an obelisk with a list of the fields present at that time (A-1 through A-26) engraved on each of its faces along with the Fighter Wings and Groups, Bomb Groups, and Liaison Squadrons based in Normandy as well as the Air Engineer Battalions who built the facilities. It was also the location of A-15.
