The D924's roundabout has a memorial just S over the railroad bridge near the fire station commemorating a US aviator.

Take the D562/962 S from Caen to Flers and then take the D924 E to Briouze. Once in town turn S onto the D20 over the railroad tracks.

1st Lieutenant Burleigh Edward Curtis pilot USAAF 377th FS 362nd FG died for liberty on June 13th 1944 at 2125 while bombing this bridge with his P-47 Thunderbolt.
